Johor Bahru, Malaysia: Imran Mohd Nor grabbed the headlines at the 2017 Horizon Hills Golf & Country Club Media Day.
Relishing the slick greens, which were measured at 12 on the Stimpmeter, the Utusan Malaysia employee left his rivals trailing in his wake as he amassed a winning haul of 39 points in the Stableford System 36 format.
A stalwart of his country’s media Causeway Cup team, Imran claimed a one-point victory from Singapore Press Holdings’ Joey Chang. Golf Vacations Singapore’s Jackie Teo edged third place on a countback with 37 points.
More than 75 members of the print and electronic media from Singapore and Malaysia, as well as guests, participated in the event that was graced by Dato’ Goon Heng Wah, Executive Director of Gamuda Berhad.
As well as receiving the winner’s trophy from Dato’ Goon, Imran won a Transview Maruman TW Pro K7001 iron set, worth RM5,000 (about S$1,600).
Tang Meng Loon, Senior Group General Manager – Gamuda Land Clubs, said: “It’s wonderful to see such a good turnout from media on both sides of the Causeway. There is excellent camaraderie.”
Opened for play in 2008, Horizon Hills has established itself as one of the region’s most popular golfing destinations.
The Ross Watson-designed Horizon Hills Golf & Country Club course is built around the natural undulating topography of the land and offers a challenging layout that exemplifies risk-reward golf and is consistently maintained to the highest standards.
